DIY: Glitter Animals

June 13, 2013 § 2 Comments

I love do it yourself projects. It’s so fun to spend an evening crafting and end up with a unique and heartfelt addition to your home. The best DIY projects are the ones that are quick and easy. And this one is 100% of both. All you need are:

  • Toy animals
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
  • Glitter
  • Two bowls

These little sweeties were so cute, I almost didn’t want to cover them up.

But knowing how fun these would be when we were finished, I pressed on.

First, hold one of your animals by a leg and start covering the rest of the body with Mod Podge. Go ahead and apply your Mod Podge to the whole body before applying the glitter, it will stay wet enough.

Once you have covered the whole sweet pea in your glue, pour on the glitter. Be generous with it the first couple of times… your bowl will catch the excess.

Set aside the animal to dry and start on the next one. When covering with the glitter this time, just use the excess from the first bowl over the second. You can begin to transfer this glitter back and forth so your glitter lasts longer!

This guy was getting nervous about being tarred and glittered like his friends…

But after he went through the whole process, he really liked it! Look how pretty he is!

Once you have let them dry, go back and finish the remaining leg(s).

Here are my lovelies at the end of their makeover. How beautiful they look!

The whole process took me about 30 minutes. And now I have some pretty additions for my mantel.

I can’t wait to share their new home with you soon!
